21 News has learned more about the Youngstown officer involved in a scuffle at police headquarters last week.

Chief Carl Davis told 21 News the officer involved in this incident did not have crisis intervention training.
He said that factored into the department's decision not to open an internal affairs investigation into what happened.

YPD will, however, review its policies concerning these types of incidents.
That's according to Lieutenant Brian Butler, who heads up the internal affairs department.

We also asked chief Davis about the department's use of force policy.
It contains a section that says an officer should more or less 'take the path of least resistance' in a situation like this, and not do anything to escalate the situation.

Chief Davis responded by saying "we're going to take a look at all of it. This was an unfortunate incident and thank God it didn't turn out any worse than what it was, I'm grateful for that. But we are definitely going to take a look at the entire incident and at providing...training for all of our police officers."

On Tuesday, YPD said in a statement that it is "actively considering additional Crisis Intervention Team Training," which it hopes will aid officers in de-escalating potentially volatile situations.
