Youngstown diner style restaurant offers homemade meals to Valley customers

A new restaurant is opening their doors to the Mahoning Valley.
E & B Family Restaurant on McCartney Road in Youngstown has been open for the past few months, but celebrated their official opening with a ribbon cutting Thursday morning.
The restaurant serves diner style food, which includes home-fries that they make fresh daily. According to part-owner John Edwards, almost everything on the menu is made from scratch.
"Everything we can make from scratch, we do. Obviously there are some things we can't do, but we try to make everything homemade," said Edwards.
Edwards says that him and his family have wanted to open the restaurant and bring something to the community that they believed was missing.
"There's so many fast food restaurants, and not enough home cooked meals," said Edwards.
The spot also has a room dedicated to every branch of the military, in honor of Edwards long family history of serving.
Part-owner and cook Brian Berendt has been cooking for over two decades, and has been dreaming of opening a restaurant for years.
"We hope to establish our name with this venture and create a following that will allow us to open other businesses in the Youngstown and surrounding areas. I've been cooking diner style food for 27 years and we hope to become the area's new 'greasy spoon' restaurant," says Berendt.
E & B Restaurant is open Tuesday through Sunday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
