Hundreds without power after SUV strikes electric pole on Midlothian

Potentially thousands are without power after an SUV struck a telephone pole on E. Midlothian Blvd. Monday afternoon.
According to the Ohio Edison outage tracker, 635 Youngstown residents and 148 Struthers residents are currently without power as FirstEnergy crews work to fix the damage. Edison's map shows that as many as 1750 people could be affected by outages.
Youngstown Fire was called to the scene near the intersection with Shady Run Rd. around 12:30 Monday afternoon for a car into a telephone pole, with the possibility of entrapment reported.
While Youngstown Fire dispatch originally said one person was injured, crews on scene say one person was assessed and was not seriously hurt.
Traffic is closed in both directions on Midlothian Ave. between the 680 Interchange and Shady Run Rd until officials can clear the scene.
