NILES, Ohio -  Niles Police are calling on the public to help find a vehicle involved in a hit skip crash early Friday morning.

According to a press release from Niles PD, police caught wind of the crash shortly before 5:00 a.m. Friday morning when a concerned citizen approached an officer about a man lying in the roadway near the area of Wendy's in the Eastwood Mall Complex.

Police went to the scene and observed a "severely injured" male in the the center turning lane. Police say vehicle parts were found near the male. He was taken to the hospital, but police are unsure of his condition.

Investigation of the city's traffic cameras revealed that footage of the crash had been captured and involved a 2008-2012 Chevrolet Malibu LTZ of an unknown color. Police say the vehicle has a factory pin stripe with front end and windshield damage.
