'Field of Dreams' actor takes diamond at Eastwood Field
After 35 years, one of the most iconic baseball movies Field of Dreams has withstood the test of time
One of the film's main actors made some dreams come true at Eastwood Field, which felt a bit like Dyersville, Iowa Saturday night.
"The messaging about the values of family and relationships, and having him wrap that all up and talk about the story is a great opportunity for folks.", said Tony Perrone with Shepherd's Foundation, part of Shepherd of the Valley which provides services for seniors.
Dwier Brown known for his famous role as John Kinsella, the father of Kevin Costner's character Ray, took pictures with baseball and movie fans alike, while also signing merchandise.
"Over the years I've had people tell me amazing stories on how they changed careers because of field of dreams you know felt like they hear the voice in their own heads--that's one of the reasons I wanted to get into acting was to make movies that would change people's lives.", said Brown.
The Ohio-native tells 21 News that it was good to be back in his home state for a good cause.
That cause, raising funds for Shepherd of the Valley, which provides services for seniors. Money was raised through ticket sales, basket raffles, and a silent auction. Fans got to play catch on the field, enjoy a buffet dinner, hear from the movie icon who talked about his experience on set, a valuable lessons from the 1989 film. The night concluded with Field of Dreams played on the big screen in center field.
