Cortland City Council says it has acquired the former Farmer's Bank parking lot in a continued effort to revitalize the city's downtown.

The lot, at 181 West Main Street, will help ease parking issues for nearby businesses.

“Our business owners identified that limited parking was a problem. City Council and I agree that this property will not only solve that problem, but in the future will hopefully become home to a flourishing community event center,” said Cortland Mayor Dierdre Petrosky.

The acquisition is part of a 2021 strategic plan being used by the City of Cortland to support growth and prosperity among Cortland's small businesses.
