A Sebring man is expected to plead in a case involving him and his wife allegedly drugging and raping a 14-year-old girl.

According to court records, 36-year-old Michael Vanhorn is scheduled to appear in Judge John Durkin's court on October 19 at 1:30 p.m. for a plea hearing.

Vanhorn is charged with rape, corrupting another with drugs and three counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. In June of 2023, he entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity.

The charges stem from an incident where Vanhorn allegedly gave the juvenile victim wine, marijuana and Xanax before allegedly raping her. Police say Michael and his wife, Kara Vanhorn were known to allow minors to drink and smoke marijuana in their home.

Kara is charged with endangering children (third degree felony), corrupting another with drugs, contributing to the unruliness or delinquency of a child, failure to comply with underage alcohol laws and endangering children (first degree misdemeanor).
