YOUNGSTOWN -  The YSU football team picked up the victory over Southern Illinois. Tyshon King got his team on the board first with a 40-yard touchdown run that capped off a 7-play, 75-yard drive.

In the second quarter, YSU marched down the field 96 yards, and Dra Rushton scored to give the Penguins a 14-0 lead. YSU dominated on the ground with 167 yards rushing and picked up the win 31-3.

"Coming off last week with the loss, we had to make a statement win not only for ourselves to kind of show everyone and confirm what we're all about, and I feel like we did that today for sure," said Penguin Coach Doug Phillips.

Next Saturday afternoon, the Penguins visit South Dakota State.
