Mercer County, Pa. - The Mercer County Department of Revenue is warning residents of scammers impersonating field assessors for Tyler Technologies, a company the county has contracted to prepare the countywide tax reassessment.

According to a press release, scammers are leaving orange door hangers on various residences in the county with a 1-800 number to call to schedule an appointment for an indoor inspection of their homes.

Tyler Technologies is assuring residents that they never ask to enter anyone's home. The company is working in the West Middlesex and Shenango Township areas, and pictures of all data collectors employed by Tyler Technologies are available on the county website.

If you have received an orange door hanger like the ones described above, you're asked not to throw it away, but instead call your local police department and provide it to them.

Residents are asked not to call the number or allow anyone claiming to be a Tyler Technologies employee to enter your home for any reason.
