Youngstown schools receive $40,000 in funds for the arts

The Youngstown City School District says it has received nearly $40,000 from nine different grants from the Ohio Arts Council.
Those grants, totaling $39,800, will benefit all of Youngstown's elementary and middle schools, according to a release from YCSD.
"Youngstown City Schools is extremely grateful to Governor DeWine, Lieutenant Governor Jon Husted, and members of the Ohio General Assembly for acknowledging the importance of public funding for the arts through the state budget," says YCSD Superintendent Jeremy Batchelor.
"Our district is full of talented scholars who need the magic of the Arts to unlock their potential to achieve their dreams," said Bridget Lambright-Tammelleo, supervisor of YCSD's Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) program. "The generous grant will afford our scholars to have that creative outlet to express themselves and gain valuable communications skills."
The release from YCSD also says the grants were obtained as part of efforts by the district to align with it's One Plan, Climate & Culture, Strategy/Objective 2 Equity, Access, and Inclusive Practices.
