Plumber and Pipefitters Local 396 and its members have endorsed Issue 3 to the Mahoning County Mental Health and Recovery Board.

Issue 3 is a renewal of the five-year levy that was last passed in 2018 and not a new tax.

The levy provides the financial funds necessary for contract agencies to provide needed mental health and recovery services to the indigent and under-insured population of Mahoning County.

"Construction workers in general are at a higher risk for substance abuse and suicide. The officers of Local 396 take the health of our members and their family very seriously. This not only includes physical health but mental health as well. The passage of the renewal levy will provide necessary funding for mental health and recovery services that are needed for Mahoning County residents," said Marty Loney, Local 396 Business Manager in a letter to the Mahoning County Mental Health and Recovery Board.

In response to the endorsement, MCMHRB Executive Director Duane Piccirilli said, "This endorsement shows how vital mental health and recovery services are to all members of our community. We are grateful for the support of our Local 396 and look forward to continuing to meet the needs of their members and all of our community."
