State Troopers are investigating a fatal, wrong way traffic accident that slowed traffic on Interstate 80 in Trumbull County.

The crash involved a car and a semi-tractor trailer and occurred just before 1:30 am not far from the state line in Hubbard.

The patrol says a pickup truck traveling in the west along the eastbound lanes of I-80 ran head-on into an oncoming tractor-trailer.

Both vehicles veered into the median, causing the tractor-trailer to jackknife.

The pickup truck driver, 91-year-old Gary Wagner of Brookfield, died at the scene.

The tractor-trailer driver, 72-year-old Philip McCartney of Greenville, Pennsylvania,  was taken to Mercy Hospital in Youngstown for treatment of injuries troopers say are not life-threatening.

The Ohio Department of Transportation blocked the left eastbound lane of the interstate just east of the Route 62 interchange.
