MCCTC unveils Innovative Energy and Technology Workforce Training Center

CANFIELD, Ohio - The Mahoning County Career and Technical Center (MCCTC) has unveiled its new "Innovative Energy and Technology Workforce Training Center" during a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday.
According to a press release, the center is the first of its kind in the Valley and represents a major step forward in bridging the gap between workforce demands and the skills of students and the community.
Support for the center came from regional partners like Brite Energy Innovators, Eastgate Regional Council of Governments, Ultium Cells, IBEW 64, IBEW 64 and Youngstown State University.
According to the release, the facility will be at the forefront of electric vehicle (EV) technology offering hands-on training and expertise in the rapidly-growing EV industry including charging stations, lithium ion battery installation maintenance and manufacturing.
Additionally, students will have access to comprehensive training in alternative energy systems like solar, wind and power generation, equipping them with the knowledge and skill needed to excel in these fields.
The training center will also host science camps for students in grades K-12 to foster interest in these innovative technologies and serving as an education hub for students of all ages.
