Child dies after shooting at home on Youngstown's south side

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A young boy has died after being shot at a home on Youngstown's south side.
According to Youngstown police, the shooting happened around 8 a.m. at a home in the 300 block of Marmion Avenue.
Police arrived on scene and found a 7-year-old boy had been shot. Officers began life-saving measures as EMTs made their way to the scene to take the child to the hospital.
The child later passed away at the hospital.
Youngstown detectives and the Crime Scene Unit processed the scene and while it is early in the investigation, police believe the shooting was an accident.
However, police haven't ruled out other possibilities and will continue to investigate. Detectives said they'll speak with prosecutors about potential charges in the future.
