Mercer and Lawrence Co. students explore robotic surgical systems at hospital
UPMC Jameson is making strides in education and health care by hosting its second annual Robotics Day for local high school students. The event is introduced them to the world of robotics in healthcare and how they are applied in healthcare.
"The goal here is to really educate [the students] on the tools we are using in the hospital and where they might see this as a potential career path in the future," Zachary Lenhart, vice president of operations for UPMC Jameson said.
Clinicians and physicians stood by the students as they got a first-hand experience working with two robotic surgical systems.
Lenhart is hoping this interactive experience not only sparks interest among the students but also encourages them to consider future careers in robotics and healthcare.
