In Mahoning County, here are the results for the local school issues and levies:

Canfield School Bond issue

The 7.5 mills, $104.9 million bond levy to build a new Pre-K through 4th-grade school, a new middle school, and renovation of the current high school was defeated Tuesday, 5,528 to 3,581.

The district last sought funding for its school district in May 2022, when voters rejected a 6.9-mill issue to build a new K-8 building.

Poland Schools Bond Issue

Voters in Poland voted on a  12.1-mill bond issue, which would generate $105 million for new schools, plus a 0.05-mill tax levy, which was also defeated Tuesday by a wide margin, 5,294 to 1,844.

Poland schools last put a bond issue on for new schools in November 2015, which was defeated.

Youngstown Schools Renewal Levy

In Youngstown, voters passed its renewal of the levy for emergency requirements for $5,291,510 annually. The renewal passed 5,763 to 4,645 against the levy.

The renewal levy would cost property owners $333 for each $100,000 of the county auditor's appraised value for a period of 4 years, commencing in 2024, first due in calendar year 2025.

The district had pulled the 9.51-mill, four-year renewal from the May ballot due to the lack of Youngstown issues on the ballot at the time.
