Jockey accused of assaulting fellow jockey at Hollywood Racecourse
A jockey from Columbiana County spent the night in jail after allegedly assaulting a fellow jockey at Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Racecourse.
Austintown Police were called to the race course Tuesday afternoon to investigate a report that two jockeys were fighting.
When officers arrived, they saw a jockey on a gurney, being loaded into an ambulance. The jockey, whose name was not released, was wearing a neck brace and had a cut over his eye, according to a police report.
Police say security video shows the suspect, 39-year-old Christian Pilares Moyohuilca of Homeworth, coming up behind the alleged victim, then punching him and tackling him near the track’s stables.
Fellow jockeys told police as they pulled the suspect off the victim, the suspect kicked the victim in the head.
The victim, who was able to talk, told police he would pursue charges before he was taken to Mercy Hospital.
Moyohuilca was arraigned Wednesday on one misdemeanor count of assault. He is scheduled to appear in court again on December 11.
The report does not say why the alleged assault took place.
