The Youngstown Seventh Ward race has officially been decided, with incumbent Basia Adamczak losing her seat to challenger Amber White

With the provisional votes counted, White defeated Adamczak by nine votes, 679 to 670. The third candidate in the race, Josie Lyon, received 339 votes.

On election night, the tally stood with White with 672 votes, Adamczak with 654, and Lyon with 335 votes.

In a written statement, she wanted to thank the "...people of the 7th ward who put their faith in me to represent them these next four years. I am truly grateful and thankful for this opportunity, and I take the responsibility with great humility and honor.  I have been listening to your concerns in the ward, and I'm ready to hit the ground running to be the representative you deserve. I will always work on your behalf to make the changes and meet the challenges we face as a ward and a city. To those who supported my opponents, the election is over, and we must now come together to solve the concerns of all."

Two of her top priorities when she takes office will be increase government transparency with spending and improving public safety.

Adamczak has been the 7th Ward councilwoman since January 2016. Amber White ran as a write-in for Youngstown mayor in 2021, garnering more than 800 votes.

According to the Mahoning County Board of Elections, there will not be a recount unless Adamczak is willing to pay to have it done.
