YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Thanksgiving's over, winter's approaching and the weather is getting colder, and what better way to celebrate than to break out your skates and go ice skating.

The Jewish Community Center's Winter Campus in Youngstown is opening for skating on Friday, November 24 on its synthetic ice rink and curling lane and will remain open until the end of the year on December 31.

The rink will be open Fridays from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 8 p.m. The rink does not require below freezing temperatures and skating is absolutely free.

If you don't have your own ice skates, you can rent some from the JCC and snacks are available for purchase at the Ice Shack.

The rink will be hosting some special events throughout the season like Hanukkah on Ice on December 13 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and a "Noon" Year's party from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on December 31.

These events are free for JCC members and are $5 for non-members.

The Winter Campus is made possible through grants from the Youngstown Foundation, Western Reserve Health Foundation and J. Ford Crandall Memorial Foundation.
