OVI charge amended for Mahoning County Board of Elections Director

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A public official's court case wrapped up after his OVI charge was amended.
Thomas McCabe, Director of the Mahoning County Board of Elections and Mahoning County Republican Party Chairman, was originally charged with OVI after refusing to be tested for his blood alcohol content, according to the court filing.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol pulled over McCabe on McClurg Road on November 1 and dashcam video of the incident was released.
McCabe had a hearing Thursday afternoon where the charge was amended to physical control. He also faced a charge of failure to yield the right of way.
Court records show a fine of $500 for the physical control charge and $120 in probation fees.
