Christmas is coming early for 15 students of Boardman Center Intermediate School (BCIS) this Sunday, Dec. 10.

That's because Boardman Township Police are taking them on a holiday shopping spree at Macy's in Southern Park Mall.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. where BCIS students will be able to spend up to $300 to spend on family members or anything they may need or want this holiday season.

"Boardman Schools is grateful for this opportunity to brighten the holidays for some of our Spartan families who may need an extra boost this year," said BCIS Counselor Kendra Baltes. "Our students already are forming a great bond with our new School Resource Officer Mike Calautti, but this program will allow them to see so many of our officers up close as helpers as well as good role models."

Baltes applied for a $3,000 Macy's grant and the Boardman F.O.P. also donated $1,000 along with money from Hynes Industries to make it all possible.
