Feed Our Valley: Gibson Insurance Agency turns community appreciation event into food drive
Every July, the Gibson Insurance Agency gives back to the community that supports them by hosting an appreciation event. The parking lot floods with different food trucks and games for hundreds of people - and it's all for a good cause. The agency asks community members to bring canned goods or make donations to Second Harvest Food Bank at the event.
“Hunger is one of the greatest issues that the community faces and they help fill that gap,” Andrew Thompson, the Vice President of Gibson Insurance Agency said about the Second Harvest Food Bank.
The event is a way for the agency to thank those that help them year round and turn that into help for others.
“The community helps us be successful and there's no better way to give back to the community than support the charitable organizations that support them,” Thompson said.
The community appreciation event started in 2016, and over the years Gibson Insurance has given more than 3,500 pounds of food and $5,000 in donations.
“When we deliver those items and that money to Second Harvest Food Bank, you see the appreciation on their faces, in their eyes, their words. You can't describe it,” Thompson said.
