YPD gives update on three homicides over the weekend in city

The Youngstown Police Department gave an update Monday on three homicides that all occurred over the weekend.
Two shootings on Youngstown’s South Side happened within 24 hours on Saturday and Sunday. The police are also investigating a woman's body that was found on Youngstown's East Side on Saturday.
Police do not believe the three crimes are connected and think all were targeted attacks.
Police believe that there is no threat to the community.
“All three of these homicides have to do or revolve around those who have unhealthy conflict resolution skills and who have very personal directed motives for doing what they do,” Captain Jason Simon of the Youngstown Police Department said.
During the press conference, officers urged the family or friends of the victims not to retaliate because of any rumors they may have heard surrounding the crimes.
Police specifically wanted to clear up any rumors about the shooting on South Avenue.
Police said the incident happened outside a bar and was not related to the shooting. Police also said they don't believe a report of a blue Dodge Challenger vehicle was involved in the shooting, despite previous reports at the scene.
Police did say a car may have been involved in the crime, but they couldn’t go into any more detail.
YPD does have suspects or persons of interest in mind for all of the homicides and is working out plans to increase patrols in the future because of the crimes.
Police have not released any information on the identity of any of the victims.
Police also could not release any information on how the woman found on the East Side died.
