Seventh Ward councilwoman Adamczak concedes to White, questions legitimacy of election

YOUNGSTOWN - Youngstown Seventh Ward Councilwoman Basia Adamczak is officially conceding to councilwoman-elect Amber White after a tight election race.
White officially defeated Adamczak in the November election by eight votes, with White finishing at 679 to Adamczak's 671.
In a letter written by Adamczak, she questions the legitimacy of the November election while pointing out irregularities, but ultimately concedes to White.
"After careful consideration and examination, as we assess the results and occurrences leading up to Election Day, it is apparent that irregularities have cast doubt on the legitimacy of this election-- concerns ranging from residency requirements, to whether convicted felons are able to hold office, to the validity of an up-spike of voter registration and absentee ballots within the 7th ward…Despite these strong indications of irregularities, it is with a heavy heart that I concede the election," wrote Adamczak.
Adamczak also calls on the Ohio Secretary of State to investigate the election.
"Yet, it is imperative to underscore the necessity of a thorough and comprehensive investigation by the Ohio Secretary of State to ensure the trust and faith of the citizens in our democratic institutions. Let us stand together in advocating for the transparency and integrity that our democratic process demands," writes Adamczak.
Adamczak says that she will continue advocating for the best interests of the community, and that she has planned for and safeguarded a few, "exciting" projects for 2024.
The letter concludes with Adamczak expressing her appreciation for the trust the people of the seventh ward have placed in her over the last eight years.
"Your voices and concerns have been a driving force behind my efforts. Whilst this chapter may come to a close, my commitment to serving the community remains resolute," writes Adamczak.
