Girard church looking to help family who lost home in Liberty Township fire

GIRARD, Ohio - EDITOR'S NOTE: A previous version of this story included the sizes of clothing for members of the family. We've since been alerted to an updated Facebook post from Saint Rose Church asking donors to hold off on purchasing any more clothes to donate. Gift cards and other household items are still requested.
A Girard church is looking to help a family in Liberty Township who had lost their home in a devastating fire in Liberty Township Wednesday night.
According to a letter sent to members of Saint Rose Church of Girard, the family who lived in the home are members of the church and its school community, so the church is calling on parishioners to do all they can to give back to the family.
The letter states that a fundraiser is currently in the works, but before then, there are other ways for parishioners to help.
This past Friday, Saint Rose Catholic School hosted a "dress down day" where students could pay $2 to participate with all proceeds going to the family.
If you weren't able to participate in that or you want to help out even more, the church will be holding a clothing and gift card drive on Wednesday, December 20 in order to help the family replace items lost to the fire.
The drive will take place during normal business hours on Wednesday. Donated clothing or gift cards can be dropped off at the school during its normal business hours of 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Items will be collected following all masses in the church the following weekend.
In an updated statement on Facebook, the church says it's already received "more than [they] imagined" in such a short period of time, especially when it comes to clothing donations.
The church is asking donors to hold off on purchasing any more clothing items for the family, but if you've already purchased some, you are still welcome to donate them.
In the meantime, the church is still asking for gift cards and other household items for the family.
