Students at Boardman High School are doing their part to give back this holiday season by joining forces with the Mahoning County Children's Services' Angel Tree program.

Members of the Emerging Leaders Club collected toys and other gifts for 15 local children in foster care. Gifts ranged from Lego sets, to new outfits, to a large stuffed bulldog wearing a pair of reindeer antlers.

"The holidays are all about gift-giving, usually to our friends or family," said Jackie Fingerhood Andrews, a junior at Boardman. "I think sometimes we forget that others are not as fortunate and it gives me peace of mind knowing that other kids and teenagers can open gifts on Christmas morning."

This is the fifth consecutive year for the collaboration.

The Emerging Leaders Club supports several nonprofits throughout the year, including Animal Charity, United Way, and Habitat for Humanity.
