Former Ohio Supreme Court Justice, Appeals Court Judge to file petitions for former court seat

MAHONING COUNTY, Ohio - Former Ohio Supreme Court Justice and 7th District Court of Appeals Judge Mary DeGenaro will be filing petitions for her former seat in the Appeals Court in the Republican Primary on Tuesday.
DeGenaro will be at the Mahoning County Board of Elections on Tuesday, December 19 at 10:00 a.m. to file her petitions.
DeGenaro was the first Republican elected to the court in 24 years when she ran in 2000 and was reelected in both 2006 and 2012. She was appointed to the Ohio Supreme Court in 2018, and has served as Chief Legal Council for Ohio Auditor of State Keith Faber since 2019.
Additionally, DeGenaro served by assignment on six of the 12 appellate districts across Ohio, and two terms as the Administrative and Presiding Judge on the 7th District.
She's served on the Appellate Practice Specialty Board of the Ohio State Bar Association, and as president of the Ohio Women's Bar Association.
In a press release, DeGenaro is quoted as saying she's looking to return to the court because "[her] almost 18 years of appellate judicial experience is needed to lead the next generation of judges on the Court as we serve the citizens of the eight-county district."
