Mahoning County Commissioners subsidize $250,000 to Dog Warden for staffing

MAHONING COUNTY, Ohio - Mahoning County Commissioners have subsidized $250,000 from the general fund to the Mahoning County Dog Warden.
County Commissioner David Ditzler tells 21 News ever since COVID-19 hit in 2020, the Dog Warden has gotten much busier with more dogs coming in, but the staffing remaining the same.
Ditzler also tells us that since the pandemic, the number of dog license fees has reduced.
"We would send staffing out and college kids going door to door making sure people who had doors had their dog license and those monies have depleted. The staffing level's the same, but the work's up," Ditzler said.
With this funding, Ditzler hopes that things can go back to the way they were for the Dog Warden.
