WARREN, Ohio - One of three suspects in an arson that killed a 16-year-old girl in Warren back in January has pled guilty in court Friday.

Twenty-four-year-old Zackary Gurd entered a plea deal in court Friday morning to charges of Aggravated Murder, Attempted Murder, Aggravated Arson and Tampering With Evidence. As a result of this plea deal, Gurd is no longer eligible for the death penalty.

The charges stem from an arson that killed 16-year-old Chassidy Broadstone back in January of 2023.

Gurd is one of three suspects in the fire with the other two identified as Brendan Daviduk and Patricia Zarlingo. The two have not pled yet with Zarlingo due back in court on January 10 and Daviduk on January 17.

Police say Gurd was the one who brought the can of gasoline that started the fire to the home the night of the crime.
