One dog has died in a house fire in Poland late Friday morning. 

Crews from numerous fire departments responded to a fire at a home on the 2300 Block of Shetland Lane in Poland around 9:30 a.m. Friday.

Crews on scene tell 21 News that the house was occupied by a family of four. All members of the family were able to get out safely, as well as two dogs and a guinea pig, but one dog was not able to make it out alive.

According to Cardinal Joint Fire District Captain, Conner O'Halloran the fire started in the basement and quickly extended up to the first floor of the home. The exact cause is still under investigation.

Crews from Poland, Springfield, Boardman, Youngstown, Beaver and Canfield all showed up to the scene.
