POLAND TWP., Ohio - Editor's note: After paying restitution in the amount of $3,000 to the victim in the case, Cerimele plead guilty to a lesser charge of disorderly conduct and was ordered to pay a $150 fine. Court records indicate the victim had no objection to this plea deal.

A Valley roofing contractor spent the weekend in jail after one of his neighbors told police he paid hundreds of dollars for work that was never even started.

Thirty-eight-year-old Robert Cerimele was booked into the Mahoning County Jail Friday on a charge of theft filed by Poland Township Police.

According to a court filing, a Manor Avenue resident claims he gave Cerimele a $3,500 check in late May to replace the roof on his house.

Nothing has been done to replace the roof since then, according to the resident, who is a neighbor of Cerimele's.

Jail records show that Cerimele was released from jail on New Year’s Day.

Online court information shows no hearing date set for Cerimele.
