Drivers in the Valley got their first taste of winter for the new year during the morning commute on Thursday.

First Responders were called out several times for cars that slid into ditches following a light blanket of snow that fell earlier in the morning.

In Girard, a car flipped onto its roof along northbound Route 711 before 9 a.m. The driver claims the car slid on a wet spot and went out of control. One person was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

A short time later, one person was injured when a Ford Escape and Buick Encore collided on the ramp from southbound Interstate 680 to Route 224 in Boardman.

The victim was taken to Mercy Hospital in Boardman.
