The Ohio Turnpike announced on Friday that it has set a vehicle travel record this past year.

According to a press release, passenger car and commercial truck customers traveled a record 3,131,669,772 miles on the Turnpike last year. That's a 2.2% increase compared to 2022.

Passenger cars traveled 1,936,873,837 miles, a 5.2% increase compared to 2022. However, commercial truck customers traveled 1,194,795,935 miles, a 2.2% decrease compared to the record 1,221,934,120 miles in 2022.

In 2023, the number of vehicle trips on the Turnpike was 50,722,769, a 2.3% increase compared to 2022.

Passenger car customers completed 38,165,196 trips, which is a 3.9% increase compared to 2022. However, commercial truck customers completed 12,557,573 visits, a 2.1% decrease compared to a record 12,831,384 trips in 2022.

Additionally, EZ Pass usage on the Turnpike increased 2023 by 0.7%, with 74.1% of customers using it in 2023. 64.5% of passenger car customers used EZ Pass in 2023 (2.1% increase), and 89.6% of commercial truck customers used it in 2023 (0.4% increase).
