Lyras ran for Congress twice, against Bill Johnson as a Democrat in 2022, and for the Republican nomination in 2020.

A former congressional candidate from the Mahoning Valley has passed away.
Lou Lyras died unexpectedly Wednesday, according to his daughter Aspasia Lyras-Bernacki.
He grew up in Campbell, graduating from Memorial High School and then The Ohio State University. He was the owner of CorCon and a part owner of Penguin City Brewing Company.
Lyras ran for Congress twice, against Bill Johnson as a Democrat in 2022, and for the Republican nomination in 2020.
Lyras was 73.
