Columbiana County K9 takes second place in 'Fur Responders' competition
After a hard-fought race, Columbiana County Sherriff’s Department K-9 Diva came in second in the very first Ohio Fur Responders Photo Challenge.
The Belgian Malinois who joined the Sheriff’s Department in 2022, received 5,388 online votes in the competition which ended on Wednesday.
Diva faced off with other dogs, horses, and even a cat in the category of communities with populations of 100,000 or more.
Coming in first with 7,020 votes was Otto of the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office. Otto, a Bernese Mountain Dog serves the community as a Therapy Dog.
Also in the running was Jackpot, a seven-month veteran of the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office, who came in 28th with 161 votes.
Jackpot is a cadaver dog specializing in finding human remains both on land and in the water.
