ODOT: 21 crews struck so far this year

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Department of Transportation is reminding drivers to keep an eye out for crews patching potholes.
Last week, a driver was cited for nearly crashing into an Ohio State Highway Patrol cruiser and an ODOT message board as workers were patching holes on Interstate 70 in Madison County.
ODOT says its crews have been struck 21 times this year. Sixteen of those were snowplows.
Last year in Ohio, 3,300 drivers were cited for violating the Move Over Law. That’s up 11% from the previous year.
The law requires drivers to move over and slow down for any stationary vehicle with flashing lights on the side of the road. The law applies to vehicles with flashing lights of any color, including law enforcement officers, emergency responders, road construction, maintenance vehicles, utility crews and tow trucks.
The law applies to all roadways and highways in the state, and fines are doubled for failing to comply with it.
