How Fellows Riverside Gardens Prepares for Spring Blooms
Many may wonder what goes on at Fellows Riverside Gardens during the Winter months, but the work at the local garden never stops.
"We have over 40 thousand annuals in and plugs that we pot and grow in our greenhouses until they are ready to go out in the Spring or early Summer, said Joe Tucker, Manager of Horticulture at Fellows Riverside Gardens."
Maintenance Gardener at Fellows Riverside Gardens, Mary Dubec creates an excel spreadsheet with the seeds sew dates, and other detailed information about each plant.
Dubec also created a booklet that shows a diagram of where each plant will be located in the garden and a container that holds thousands of seeds organized by the month and exact date the plants should go in the ground.
"This coming spring we will have tulips and daffodils. We will have about 30 thousand and they're in the ground now. You'll see their heads popping up soon, says Marcy Dubec."
