A Youngstown man is being held in a Pennsylvania jail on charges filed following a head-on crash that killed a woman and injured two of her children.

State Police in Schuylkill County say 46-year-old Rodney Keith Rivers has been charged with homicide by vehicle and assault by vehicle.

Police say the charges were filed following a crash along Route 901 in Cass Township.

Rivers was allegedly the driver of a car passing traffic along Route 901 Friday night, when he ran into an oncoming car being driven by 65-year-old Elizabeth Ryan of Pottsville, Pennsylvania.

Ryan was killed in the crash.   Her children, ages 8 and 5 were seriously injured, according to police, Rivers, who wasn't injured, could face additional charges. 

 

According to online records, Ryan has a case pending in Youngstown Municipal Court for allegedly violating a protection order.
