State Representative Lauren McNally announced over $300 thousand in funding for the Martin P. Joyce Detention Center as part of Ohio Department of Youth Services Juvenile Correctional Building Fund.

"Security and safety are essential for the employees in these facilities and the children in the state's care," said McNally. "I'm thankful the state can be a partner to our local governments in making these necessary upgrades."

The funding from the General Assembly provides state matching funds for renovation and maintenance projects at various juvenile detention centers. Project funding will not be given to detention centers that does not comply with health, safety, and security measures the department creates.

The funding for the state will match local funds for the project in a 60/40 spilt.

Several issues at the facility will be addressed with the funding, including replacing the facility lock system.
