Six month jail sentence for Warren mom whose toddler was wounded

A Warren woman who pled guilty earlier to a charge filed after her two-year-old son was shot in the hand has been sentenced to six months in jail.
Twenty-four-year-old Kevonna Marion pled guilty to one count of endangering children last month.
In addition to the jail time, Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Sean O'Brien also places Marion on probation for three years.
The charge stems from an incident in March of 2023 when Marion's two-year-old son accidentally shot himself in the hand with a gun found hidden behind a bed at a Highland Terrace apartment.
“The fact that you put him (the child) in harm’s way is very concerning to the court,” O’Brien told the mother who was also ordered to complete a rehab at the Northeast Ohio Community Alternative Program and attend parenting classes.
Marion, along with 21-year-old Jamarr Jenkins were both charged with endangering children. A warrant was issued for Jenkins, and he was eventually arrested in July.
Jenkins, who was also charged in connection with the March shooting death of 43-year-old Ruby Sanchez in Warren, has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, felonious assault, and endangering children.
A sentencing date has yet to be scheduled for Jenkins.
