A company that sells vitamins for babies is recalling approximately 3,800 units of a liquid vitamin supplement for elevated levels of vitamin D3 that could make infants sick.

Nordic Naturals is voluntarily recalling one lot of Nordic Naturals Baby’s Vitamin D3 Liquid, 0.76 fl. oz. (22.5 mL), 400 IU (10mcg) D3.

A manufacturing error resulted in an elevated level of vitamin D3 dosage. The affected lot number is 234909, with an expiration date of December 2025.

The company said prolonged use of the recalled liquid could potentially lead to elevated vitamin D levels, resulting in vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst, frequent urination, and inability to thrive in infants.

The affected product is a dietary supplement for infants up to 12 months of age and is packaged in boxes containing one bottle and one dropper for dosage under SKU RUS-02733.

Consumers, distributors, and retailers possessing the recalled product should discontinue use immediately and return it to the place of purchase for a refund or replacement.

To date, there have been no reports of adverse events related to using the recalled product.

If infants experience any of these symptoms after using the product, report them to the FDA's MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program online at www.fda.gov/medwatch/report.htm.
