Police have arrested a Warren man accused of stealing scrap metal from a Weathersfield junkyard and selling it to a junkyard on Youngstown’s Eastside.

Thirty-one-year-old Michael Rickard was booked into the Mahoning County Jail on Thursday on a charge of receiving stolen property.

According to a police report, Rickard allegedly stole $10,000 worth of scrap from a salvage yard on Austintown Warren Road in Weathersfield, then sold the metal for $3,300 to a scrap dealer on Albert Street in Youngstown.

Police say they have the receipts for the transaction and pictures of the scrap in Rickard’s truck.

Just last week Youngstown police investigated two reports of air conditioning units containing valuable copper tubing being stolen from a church and a business on the city's Westside.
