Austintown schools give students day off for April's solar eclipse
Staff members will still report to school as normal.

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - Another school district in the Mahoning Valley is giving students the day off for the upcoming solar eclipse.
Austintown Local Schools students will get the chance to check out the April 8th eclipse from home or at an event.
Staff members will still report to school as normal.
The solar eclipse will happen on April 8th with totality happening between 3:08 and 3:19 p.m. depending on the area.
Mahoning County is in the "partial totality" area but nearby Summit, Geauga and Ashtabula counties are all within the "full totality" area.
According to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the last time a total solar eclipse was visible in Ohio was 1806. The next time a total solar eclipse will happen in Ohio is 2099.
