CANFIELD, Ohio - The Walnut Grove has announced that Karen Conkey will take over as the new Board President, and that the annual Swing, Wine, & Dine fundraiser is returning for 2024.
The fundraiser is sponsored by the Associated School Employees Credit Union, and will be held Saturday, February 24 2024 at The Embassy in Struthers. The Walnut Grove is the Mahoning Valley's first inclusive and accessible 20-acre outdoor recreational facility.
Through the success of the Swing, Wine, & Dine event, the facility has grown in the last 6 years. New updates include new restrooms, expanded parking, as well as a state-of-the-art inclusive wheelchair sling.
The Walnut Grove is a non-profit organization that relies solely on community support and funding grants. In previous years $56,000 was raised.
The 6th annual Swing, Wine & Dine will include a wine and beer tasting, dinner catered by The Embassy, a silent art auction, and music. A basket raffle and children's art gallery will also be featured.
Tickets cost $50 per ticket, or $400 for an entire reserved table of eight.
Conkey has been with The Walnut Grove Board of Directors since 2020, and has worked hard towards fundraising and landscaping maintenance of the playground.
"I'm truly honored to lead this organization as it's next President," said Conkey. "The Walnut Grove has meant so much to me over the last 4 years, and I am excited to see its impact on future generations."
