A Girard man accused of raping two young boys has been found guilty on all seven counts of rape and one count of gross sexual imposition.

The charges against 31-year-old Nicholas Clark, stem from the rapes of two boys aged seven and nine years old respectively.

According to an indictment, the incidents occurred between 2016 and 2021 when Clark anally raped them.

During the closing arguments, which began earlier today, the prosecution reiterated that Clark "betrayed the trust" of his family and the two victims.

Prosecutors went on to go over the victims' parents' testimonies, which gave a timeline of all the incidents, as well as the victims' testimonies about their experiences with Clark.

On the topic of evidence, the prosecution reiterated that testimony is evidence and if something is done in secret, there are no eyewitnesses to report it but the victims themselves.

The prosecution noted that the victims were very detailed in their accounts of their experiences with Clark and went over the experiences they previously detailed in their testimonies on each individual count.

"You heard both of these boys tell you they were afraid, that these sex acts were painful and if they were to tell someone that something bad would happen," the prosecution said.

The defense argued that there was no mention of lubrication in any testimony and claimed that it is impossible to anally penetrate someone without lubrication.

"[Victim] remembered playing Dragon Ball Z, but he didn't remember lubrication. That kind of contact is not possible," the defense said.

The prosecution fired back and reiterated that the boys did testify about the pain they felt during the act and that they likely wouldn't have felt that pain if lubrication was used.

The defense also questioned how it was possible that no one else heard it or intervened if there were others in the home at the time of the incidents.

"You had at some point in time seven people in a house in Niles. Some of them were together daily, and yet no indication of anything," the defense said.

The prosecution fired back by stating that parents with children have sexual interactions in private all the time with children in the home and they don't know about it.

The defense also argued that Clark had moved in with his girlfriend at one point and asked why he would rape two boys if he was dating a woman and even moved in with her.

"Does that sound like heterosexual behavior to you," the defense asked.

The prosecution fired back and described Clark as a "freeloader who moves from one place to another" stating that he bounced from home to home quite often.
