WARREN, Ohio - The Trumbull County Sheriff's Office is mourning the loss of a corrections officer in the Trumbull County Jail.

According to a Facebook post from the Sheriff's Office, corrections officer and former reserve deputy James Anders IV died on February 26. He was 49 years old. According to his obituary, he died after a battle with cancer.

Anders served as a reserve deputy with the Sheriff's Office between 1999 and 2021. In 2008, he began pursuing his career as a full times corrections officer serving the county for 16 years.

According to the post, Anders's coworkers described him as "a wonderful guy with a contagious laugh and a heart of gold." He was an avid hockey fan who enjoyed spending time with his wife and kids.

Memorial services for Anders will be held at the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home in Warren on Saturday, March 2 at 3:00 p.m. Family and friends may visit from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
