Former McDonald teacher's aide pleads guilty to endangering children charge

TRUMBULL COUNTY, OH - A former McDonald High School teacher's aide pleaded guilty to a charge of endangering children Wednesday afternoon.
Stephen Bornemiss, 27, was originally charged with felony assault and endangering children, but the assault charge was dropped.
The plea carries a potential sentencing of six months in jail and up to a $1,000 fine.
The case dates back to September 26, 2023, when McDonald police were called to the high school over an incident caught on video that allegedly showed an incident involving a student in a multiple disabilities classroom and a teacher's aide struggling in a hallway.
The police report said the student appeared to not want to go upstairs to his classroom when Bornemiss allegedly attempted to lift the student multiple times from under their armpits.
Both the McDonald School District and Trumbull County Educational Service Center agreed to remove Bornemiss from the classroom during the investigation.
