WAR bringing 50th anniversary tour to Robins Theatre

Soul/funk band WAR is coming to Robins Theatre in Warren on May 16 as a stop on their The World is A Ghetto 50th Anniversary Tour.
The band, known for such hits as "Spill the Wine," "The Cisco Kid," and "Why Can't We Be Friends?," is embarking on a tour to commemorate the 50th anniversary of their smash album The World Is A Ghetto. The album was released in late 1972 and immediately saw success, vaulting to No. 1 on the Billboard's Pop and R&B charts and generating two top-ten songs. The album was Billboard magazine's Album of the Year as the best selling album of 1973.
Over their long and successful career, WAR has had more than 20 multi-platinum, platinum, and gold albums and singles.
Leroy "Lonnie" Jordan, the band's keyboardist and lead vocalist, is the lone original member of the band.
This performance is one of 50 dates on their summer tour.
Tickets for the show go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 8.
