BOARDMAN TWP., Ohio - A Boardman Township man is in the county jail awaiting a court hearing after his toddler was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries.

Stephen Rivers, 29, was arrested on a warrant for child endangering.

According to a police report, the charge stems from an incident that took place on December 12th when a woman showed up at Akron Children’s Hospital with her 14-month-old child.

Police say the boy had a bruise and an abrasion on his cheek and an abrasion on his forehead. It also appeared that blood vessels in the child’s eyes were ruptured.

Rivers told the mother that he was out of the room when the child was injured, believing he had fallen on one of his toys at their Todd Avenue home.

X-rays were taken and the case was investigated by Children’s Services before Rivers was charged in the case.
