I-80 ramps open again in Hubbard after tanker truck rollover

HUBBARD, Ohio - Interstate 80 ramps closed by a truck rollover in Hubbard on Thursday have since reopened.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating after a Kenworth truck overturned while traveling westbound on I-80, exiting onto US-62 in Hubbard Township. The truck hit the concrete divider and flipped over, leaving the driver trapped in the truck for some time.
The rollover closed the U.S. 62 to Interstate 80 westbound ramp, as well as the I-80 westbound ramp to U.S. 62.
Liberty Township Fire Department and Hubbard Township Fire Department worked together to free the 55-year-old driver from Youngstown, who received non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
OSHP Post Commander for the Warren County Patrol Post, Daniel Morrison says that they believe speed was a factor in the crash, as that exit corner has a distinct curve to it that can cause problems if a driver does not reduce speed.
OSHP also confirmed that Trumbull County Hazmat was on the scene as a precaution, but the tanker was not leaking and was carrying brine, a nonhazardous material. Another tanker truck was brought in to transfer the brine away from the scene safely before the truck could be towed.
